Sounds of the Diaspora
Show Description
Black history is not just found in Canada or the United States, it is found in Brazil, the UK, France, Africa itself; in every corner of mother earth. Black music is therefore as diverse and dynamic as the locales and histories that inform it. We cover everything from 70s Bossa Nova and Motown, to 80s disco, and to Hip-Hop and Afrobeats of the 2000s. Sounds of the Diaspora both celebrates black music & culture, but also seeks to educate about the socio-political history behind the beats.
